Richard Phillips (Silverstone MD) and Damon Hill (Pres. BRDC) have confirmed that the British GP will be held at Silverstone from 2010 to 2027.
This is fantastic news for British motorsport – both in terms of the venue and Britain’s place in the sporting scene.
Donington Park haveĀ been down-and-pretty-much-out since the collapse of Donington Leisure, and although the Bernster made it clear that he was still prepared to talk to any future Donny investors it now seems unlikely that Donington will be redeveloped as a meaningful motorsport venue in the near future – and that’s a real shame.
At least Formula 1 is guaranteed to race in Britain for the next 17 years, and that’s something that a lot of F1 fans will be celebrating today.
